Meet Dr. Bade Akintan Retired

Dr. Bade Akintan, M.D. received his Doctor of Medicine at the College of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He performed his Surgical Internship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital at Harlem Hospital in New York, and his Residency in Urology, Department of Surgery, at the Howard University Hospital, Washington DC.

Dr. Akintan’s professional experience includes working for multiple institutions as an Attending Urologist and also as a Consultant Urologist and a Lecturer. He also served as a Clinical Instructor in the Urology Department at the Howard University Teaching Hospital at DC General Hospital, Washington DC.

His many administrative experiences include Member, Operating Room and Laser Committee, Winter Haven Hospital; Chief of Surgery, Wabash General Hospital; Chief of Medical Staff, Wabash General Hospital; Chairman, Quality Assurance Committee, Wabash General Hospital.

Dr. Akintan’s areas of special interest are minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic enlargement; uro-gynecology and endo-urology procedures/urolithiasis; urolithiasis; erectile dysfunction: Medical and Surgical treatment; prostate cancer (brachytherapy, surgery and cryoablation).

He has received proficiency certifications in Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy; Contigen Therapy and Microwave Therapy; Green Light Laser Prostate Vaporization; and Prostate Cryotherapy and Hand-assisted Cryoablation of Renal Tumors.

Dr. Akintan is a member of many professional organizations including the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, American Urological Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
